What We Do Here at The Institute
Our MA programmes are University validated and our psychotherapeutic counselling and psychotherapy are accredited by UKCP (UK council for psychotherapy).
We offer a twin tracked journey, both toward professional qualification but also importantly we offer a psychospiritual journey of the soul, which can be undertaken without leading to a professional outcome if preferred.

Bryana Gardner
I am a therapist in training, offering low-cost, psychosynthesis counselling sessions in the centre of Edinburgh. I provide a gentle and non-judgemental space for us to walk together through whatever is present for you.
People often turn to therapy for a multitude of reasons, including current challenges, addictive behaviours, anxiety, emotional instability, relationship struggles, grief stemming from the loss of a loved one or significant life changes such as health or career shifts.
Working within the framework of Psychosynthesis provides a balanced and loving foundation from which to explore and integrate all of our parts. It is a holistic modality that considers body, feelings, mind and spirit.
Together, we can explore unconscious processes, giving meaning to the sub-personalities that shape your day-to-day interactions.
I am particularly interested in dream work, meditation, creative expression, spiritual exploration and working with archetypes & mediums such as tarot.

Wim Verbeek
Let's introduce myself: My name is Wim Verbeek. Since early 2022, I have been pursuing my MA in Psychosynthesis Psychology at the Psychosynthesis Institute in London. Psychosynthesis has come to mean more to me than just a method for coaching, counseling, or therapy; it is a way of life for me. In 1998, I completed my initial training in Psychosynthesis at the Psychosynthese Institute, which is now based in Hilversum, the Netherlands. I furthered my professional training as a Psychosynthese practitioner in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, at the Psychosynthese Academy, and since 2018, I have been operating my own practice in Amsterdam. In addition to individual counseling in my practice, I also facilitate a weekly psychosynthesis therapy group. For me, working with clients in practice means embarking on a journey together, a journey towards a conscious and loving life. Psychosynthesis supports this process of learning to love again, making conscious choices, and fostering right relations—a Psychology of Love and Will.Feel free to explore my website for more information, and please don't hesitate to contact me for an informal introductory online conversation or to schedule an in-person meeting at the practice.

Everyone has a story, a challenge, a problem or a difficulty that they want to address. Maybe you have something you need help exploring, overcoming, understanding or accepting. The big secret is that you already have the tools to live an authentic and happy life, you may just be facing some challenges that make it hard to live that truth. Through our work together I can help guide you towards sustainable and meaningful change.Hello! My name is Stephen Powell.I have been working in the environmental technology sector for twenty years, which I still do part-time. I have also been a practicing Buddhist for over fifteen years and am an ordained member of the Triratna Buddhist Order in which I teach meditation and lead retreats. Elsewhere I also both play the violin and make violins too... and now I'm a psychotherapist-in-training in Cambridge.Quite a mixture! I believe everybody has a unique journey in life, and that we all have the opportunity to live a life of meaning and value. In my life I have benefitted greatly from both therapy and my own spiritual practice and I would like to pass on those gifts to others.
Geanina Roman
I am a qualified counsellor trained in Psychosynthesis which is a psychology of hope that looks not only at our shadow, that is what we struggle with in ourselves, but also towards our potential. It believes that in order to heal we need to bring awareness not only to our wounds from the past, but also to what calls us forward in life — our desire for meaning. It also sees our struggles as stepping stones that we can use to build upon and grow beyond what we thought was possible.
In our sessions, I will offer you a safe space to explore your challenges, as well as your way of dealing with them - whether they are helpful or not. Together we will gain awareness of the parts of yourself that are at play, of your history and of your inner resources. As your therapist I will help you understand yourself at a deep level and find new perspectives on your situation. With increased awareness, shifts will begin to happen within you that will have a positive impact on your life outside of therapy. Some of the outcomes from therapy can be: increased clarity, self-acceptance and overall get a better sense of who you are as a person and acting in accordance to that.
I also have experience working as a career coach having trained in this area.
Amanda Plummer
I am a professional counsellor and non-religious celebrant living and working in rural Scotland.Prior to training as a therapist, I was a Steiner Waldorf teacher and writer. I came to Psychology by way of storytelling and I am Jungian at heart, transpersonal in practice.I treat depression, anxiety, grief and spiritual crisis through right relationship within a therapeutic alliance. I strongly focus on integrating personality fractures by healing trauma. I'm good with grief. [And also despair.]I see local clients in person at my office in West Kirk and I also work with people across the UK (and abroad!) via zoom.

Therapy is about creating a safe, nurturing non-judgmental space to reflect, identify self-destructive behaviours and patterns, and process your difficulties. My aim is to help guide you through the process of re-connecting to your own inner wisdom and resources. Learning to trust yourself in your life decisions and rediscovering your own unique values, meaning and purpose.Often in life when we experience painful things, there is a tendency to run away or try to ignore them. This can lead to struggles such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and addiction. By exploring these difficulties in a safe, caring, and observant environment we can gently come to know them and in doing so can shift their hold on our lives. As well as letting go of the difficulties, we can begin the journey of bringing awareness to where our adaptations began and connect with who we truly are.

Hi! I have a practice at the Haslemere Clinic in Surrey (GU27 1LH). For those who don't know much about Psychosynthesis, I would describe it as a very soulful form of therapy. You and I would work together to help you tune into a wiser part of yourself which has answers about how to live with more purpose and choice. For clients who are open to it, I also bring in elements of Astrology. Together we can explore what the symbolism of the planets in the sky says about your healing journey and the promptings of your higher self.I have an MA in Psychosynthesis Psychology and I am completing my Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling. I am also an IACT certified hypnotherapist and have been initiated in Kriya Yoga. I offer sessions in person or via Zoom.

The modern pressures of life can take their toll on us – increasing responsibilities and being connected 24/7 can leave us feeling burnt out, anxious, and overwhelmed. Even when we do manage to disconnect, we find it difficult to disconnect from our racing thoughts. If you’re new to therapy it can be daunting, however taking this brave step can be rewarding. It can give you the space to explore what is really going on, process difficult emotions, develop healthy coping strategies and restore your mental well-being - so that you aren’t just surviving, but thriving in the world.I am a qualified counsellor registered with the BACP. I am trained in Psychosynthesis, which is known as the “Psychology of Hope”. Whether you’re hoping to make a change (in yourself/life/relationships) or to manage change – I am here to help you. I am still part of the "Student Therapy" stream at the Institute as I'm continuing my training to psychotherapy level. As well as working as a counsellor, I am founder of a charity that empowers young women in East Africa called ETC. Previous to this, I held a number of leadership positions in the Financial Services industry, as well as the start-up world. Having lived in India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Uganda and the UK – I am adept at working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. I have an interest in Buddhist psychology and psychedelic psychotherapy (which is the basis of my thesis Masters in Psychology).I offer an initial free phone consultation to see if I would be able to help, answer any preliminary questions you might have and for us to get a sense of what it might be like to work together. If we decide to proceed, we will establish a counselling contract to ensure transparency, confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.

If you’re really struggling and unsure where to turn, then I might be able to help you. It can be daunting finding a therapist so let me tell you a bit more about who I am and what I can offer you.A bit about meHello, I’m Neil. I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor and I offer a safe, comfortable, and confidential space in the heart of Leicester city. The space will be yours to share what’s going on for you and really be heard.I’ve been a therapist for more than 3 years and a member of the BACP. I also have over 25 years of experience working in children and family social care. From this, I have gained significant insight into childhood and teenage trauma and its impact later on in life on how we see ourselves, how we see the world and how we behave in relationships with others. What I can offer youI am trained in an approach called Psychosynthesis. This unique approach uses a variety of techniques to help you overcome personal challenges, achieve a greater sense of self-awareness, and supports real personal growth. As well as offering talking therapy, I use other effective tools including meditation, mindfulness, body/feelings work and creative art materials, if and when it feels right for you.My practice is just above a coffee shop in Leicester where you can (if you wanted to) buy yourself a beverage before coming up to see me.

Firstly, well done for finding the courage to reach out for help and taking that first step which is crucial for transforming your life. Although challenges are an unavoidable part of our existence, we are often overwhelmed by them and psychologically unequipped to deal with what life throws at us. However, in that hardship there is always an opportunity for growth and healing, which I have experienced myself. As a result, I developed a great passion for helping others to find their way forward, and for the last 13 years have provided clients with various forms of support of which counselling has proved to be the most rewarding.I am a qualified MBACP Psychosynthesis Counsellor with a BSc (hons) in Psychology and background in Yoga philosophy, currently completing my MA in Psychosynthesis Psychology. Apart from my private practice, I also work for You Trust - a charity that helps survivors of abuse, and I am a part of Dorset Practice. Besides psychosynthesis, my professional experience has also been influenced by person-centred, transpersonal, humanistic, CBT, ACT, Yoga and art therapy approaches, and I have worked with individuals experiencing many different problems and dilemmas. Psychosynthesis that I offer is a therapeutic approach that focuses on self-discovery and development, whilst integrating many aspects of human being, including spiritual, emotional, cognitive and physical.I will do my best to help you find who you truly are, develop healthy coping skills and reach your full potential. I believe there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and would be honoured to help you find it, whilst guiding you throughout this process in a safe and confidential environment, where you can be truly listened to and accepted for who you are.

THE WOUND IS THE PLACE WHERE THE LIGHT ENTERS YOU-RUMII'm a qualified psychosynthesis counsellor with special interest in childhood trauma and existential crisis. From my personal experiences came the need to understand and harmonise my condition. This inner journey soon transformed into a purposeful path where my suffering gained meaning and could be seen in a positive light. Great wisdom and beauty can come from suffering and I wish to be a guide to those willing to look closer to the difficult, painful or even destructive aspects of their personality.I aim to create a safe space where one can learn to identify and understand the many aspects of their personality, focusing not only on the subconscious, but also on the superconscious realm of insight, inspirations and aspirations, working to create a harmonious environment both inner and outer.During sessions I may also offer guided meditations, somatic movement, EFT (tapping) or make reference to numerology and astrology.

To name a few of the areas psychosynthesis can be helpful with:
- Struggles with purpose and meaning
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Bereavement
- Psychospiritual issues
- Low self-esteem/confidence
- Relationship strugglesand more.

We all long for a connection in which we are never reduced or misunderstood. Therapy is a journey of self-discovery, through which we develop a deeper self-awareness, can recognise patterns and make kinder, more positive choices for ourselves and those around us. By bringing awareness and understanding to what is causing us pain or problems, we can learn to move away from self-defeating patterns of survival and towards a new future aligned with our inner integrity.Psychosynthesis is a transpersonal psychology that works holistically, nurturing synergy between all parts of your personality, enhance introspection, build ego strength and foster resilience. Instead of a pathologizing psychology, psychosynthesis is kind and empathic before it is probing and analytical. Keenly aware that symptom is a message to be understood rather than an obstacle to be removed, I hold an attitude of respect and a committed interest for the being of the client, the unique and mysterious nature of the other.Having had a career in finance in London for over 10 years, I am currently training at the Institute of Psychosynthesis towards a diploma in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy. I am a registered trainee psychotherapist with UKCP and adheres to its Code of Ethics and Practice.

I offer therapy following the Psychosynthesis modality as a qualified counsellor accredited with NCPS.My practice is informed by lived experience, a great deal of self-experimentation, and exploration, a range of educational courses and 7+ years of running workshops and facilitating groups.I have had a varied career in business development and marketing for 20+ years, living on different continents and collecting many life experiences. I have lived in Europe, the Middle East, North America and Asia.A personal and financial crisis in 2010, forced me to completely re-evaluate my life and values, begin therapy and dig deep inside for self–awareness and self-love. I have identified as Polyamorous since 2011, experiencing a wide variety of relationship dynamics in the spectra of Multigamy. I have assimilated knowledge from diverse sources and, most importantly, have made my own mistakes, and learnt a great deal from them.In the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, these experiences led me to train in psychotherapy following the Psychosynthesis modality, and formalise what had been a hobby since 2014 (I’ve been giving talks, facilitating discussions and holding workshops about non-monogamy, sex positivity, consent and kink to audiences of up to 300 people). I draw on my training modality, as well as Radical Honesty, Non-violent Communication and Wheel of Consent training. My therapy is open to anyone, regardless of orientation and identity.I have particular experience and understanding, working with people who identify as Queer, Kinky, Non-monogamous or Neurodivergent.
Rachella Michaels
My name is Rachella Michaels, and I graduated from The Institute of Psychosynthesis as a Psychotherapist in 1999. I have worked face-to-face and online with individuals and couples since then.Since the Psychosynthesis training I developed a keen interest in neuroscience and its findings, particularly in relation to the links it has found between body and mind, and how they have and continue to impact on psychotherapy, particularly in connection with working with the fallout from traumatic experiences, whether developmental, generational or incident related. In my work I encourage the growth of self awareness and agency (the personal right to choose), the exploration of personal needs and motivations, and the psychological obstacles that block carrying out those choices or making sure those needs are met.I have received couple therapy training following the Emotion Focused Therapy approach. I chose EFT because I felt it fitted well with the attachment style work I had become familiar with in Psychosynthesis, and because it included the focus on emotion which in my view needs to be at the forefront of couple therapy. My work is none confrontational, and encourages the experiential development in the individual of personal skills, learnings and realisations, that support and strengthen their sense of self, their ability to face adversity, and their ability to self soothe and remain focused.I work from just outside Salisbury in Wiltshire, both face-to-face and online, with people all over the UK and Europe.

Student Therapy Stream Sometimes life can be so overwhelming that we do not know how to cope or where to turn. Talking to a professional in confidence may help you to understand and acknowledge the feelings you are experiencing and enable you to begin to move forward in your life.
In a safe, confidential space, we will explore your painful and difficult feelings and gain insight into how past experiences may have shaped you. This insight can lead to a profound change and growth and help you to deal much more effectively with emotional problems. Examining your personal story could bring to light what it is that no longer makes sense to you and makes you feel unhappy. Together we will discover who you really are, exploring the conflicts, challenges and issues that are holding you back from experiencing a fulfilled life.
I provide therapy sessions in West London, using either short or long-term therapy based on your individual needs. I offer you the time, attention and respect necessary to explore, discover and help you with your difficulties. Even when meeting deeply challenging life events, there is an inherit trust in Psychosynthesis that our nature directs towards healing of wounding. Psychosynthesis invites you to re-open up to our interconnected nature as human beings and allowing creativity and expression to support healing.

Before our first session, I'll send you a questionnaire to gather some background information and understand the issues you'd like to explore. This helps me gain a broad sense of you and your needs before we begin. Please return the completed questionnaire at least two days before our first session, so I have time to read it.
Location
I offer therapy both in-person, at my private practice in Central (London Bridge) and North London, and online via Zoom or phone, making it accessible no matter where you are in the world. Sessions are 50 minutes long, typically conducted on a weekly basis, and can be structured as either short-term or long-term depending on your goals. For those who feel more comfortable expressing themselves in their native language, I’m also fluent in Portuguese and offer therapy in this language.
Fee
As part of my commitment to making counselling accessible, I offer services on a sliding scale based on individual financial situations. This allows clients to receive the support they need at a rate that aligns with their ability to pay.

Looking into therapy requires curiosity and courage, so thank you for being here, you’ve come a long way!Your life might feel like a crisis now or you might be slightly yet continuously disappointed. You might struggle with the world’s troubles or with your intimate relationships. You might feel the urge to find yourself or a need for an honest and authentic conversation. Wherever you’re on your journey, I am here to be your travel guide and companion. Together, we can navigate your journey towards a freer life and a wholesome relationship with yourself and others.‘Courage therapy’ is the term that I choose to describe my approach. It stems from the psychosynthesis, the school I belong to, and the experience and inspiration I have drawn from the years of therapeutiс practice and working with people. The word ‘courage’ comes from the Latin word ‘cor’, ‘heart’. Courage therapy is a manifestation of your free will. The will to see your power, to find oneness with the universe, to set yourself free from the demands of society and find your own ways to contribute to it. To experience the miracle of being yourself and being with others. Some of the challenges that clients come to me with: personal, spiritual and relationships crisis, alcohol and drugs addiction, sex-related issues (dysfunction, chemsex, addictions, shame), a new diagnosis of HIV and living with HIV, destructive relationship with social media, surviving abuse, facilitation of group dynamics in critical settings. My own journey includes over 10 years in the corporate world before starting in psychosynthesis. I have the experience of migration, overcoming addictive behaviours, troublesome relationships, abuse and spiritual crisis. I love designing spaces and travelling places. I love to love people and hope to see a world where more of us are free.If any of this resonates with you, please contact me to set the time for our first conversation. I would be happy to accompany you on your journey.❤️ExperienceI have completed training in psycho-spiritual psychology and am a certified counselor. I am registered with the UKCP and am compliant with their ethical guidelines.I have honourably completed a placement in the National Psychosis Unit at the Royal Bethlem Hospital. There I worked with service users diagnosed with treatment-resistant psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia, paranoia, suicidal ideation, and self-harm.I had excellent placements at— Terrence Higgins Trust( Living with HIV and Chemsex issues)— Mind in Camden (Hearing Voices)Qualifications and Awards

Claudia Marjoram
Hello and welcome. My name is Claudia Florentina Marjoram, I am a Psychosynthesis Counsellor in training (under supervision) with The Institute of Psychosynthesis in affiliation with Middlesex University. I am UKCP registered (UK Council for Psychotherapy). From personal experience I know that it takes a great deal of courage to acknowledge to ourselves that we might need some help, that we no longer want to suffer and struggle to cope, no longer want to just exist, but live a full life instead.I work with my clients in a very integrative way, by this I mean that everything is welcomed in the therapy room, all of who you are, your experiences, your feelings, and your thoughts.Together we will explore what is going on for you at this time and find a way back to happiness, peace, contentment and your own true Self. The starting point for my work is who and where you are right now, how you arrived at this place and who and where you could be. What limits you, what prevents you from reaching your true potential? It is a great honour to witness and walk alongside another human being on their life journey. Counselling takes immense courage and commitment and I am offering myself as a fellow traveller, a guide to support, encourage, witness and above all hold you as you journey through the highs and lows, leading to lasting change and transformation.I really look forward to hearing from you.

Therapy is a journey. We can choose to ignore that part of us that hopes for more in life and in many ways that's the easier option. The therapeutic journey is not easy. It can be extremely painful at times, but it can also help us to live again. Since you are reading this there is part of you that wants change, that wants to live in the way you once imagined. It's not too late.I can't offer you a quick fix or answers to make you feel better. You have all of those. In fact, you already have all you need. I can help you to connect more to yourself, which might mean working through some painful parts of your story, that may be known or as yet unknown. It won't be easy, but I will stay with you, by your side, as long as it takes.I offer a safe, confidential space for you to bring whatever you need to bring. You decide at your own pace what you would like to discuss. It may take a little time before you feel ready, and that's okay. The space will be reserved for you each week, and I will respect and encourage your inner wisdom. This is your journey. If you want solutions from me and a quick fix, I can't help with that. I believe in each individual, and that they know on some level what needs to be done. My aim is to connect you to this part of yourself that knows, the part that has always known, but may have got lost along the way. That part of ourselves that we remember from our earliest memories.I practice in Sutton Coldfield face to face, or online if preferred during restrictions related to the Covid pandemic. Why coaching? No matter how much we want a change, when it comes to making it happen, we are often the ones standing in our own way. So sometimes, we need outside help to see what we cannot see from the inside. Coaching can help you figure out how you really want to live your life and unlock your potential to make the change you want to see happen. Why choose me as your coach?I am passionate about driving positive and sustainable change in the world, be it in people or organisations.I believe that everyone has the potential to do that and that it starts with taking the responsibility to change and better ourselves. Because how we are affects everyone around us. So we each have the power to create the world we want to see.I work with professionals and aspiring leaders who want to live a more authentic and meaningful life, aligned with their purpose and become a powerful force for positive change in the world. Whatever you are seeking to manifest, I hope that working together will renew or give you a sense of purpose, direction and hope.
My approach
Whatever the context, my approach to 1:1 coaching is to create a safe space for you to pause and tune in to yourself. So you can reflect deeply about what is meaningful to you and get clarity on what change you want to make in your life. I offer a non-judgemental mirror so you can see yourself more clearly, without all the distortions or limitations shaped by your history and experiences.Together, we will explore what really makes sense and matters to you, and help you find the answers within.
